Tales from Kenya
05/17/2019
Sarah Maynard came to our school today to teach our 4th graders about some of her experiences when she has visited Kenya. She works with an organization called Hope for Kenya, which is a non-profit organization that helps build schools and brings clean water to rural Kenya. She talked to us about what school is like for kids in these communities in Kenya and how not all children get to attend school. She also told us about how she was able to help teach a large group of the women from these rural communities how to make beads from paper. The women earn money from making these beads which helps their communities in many ways. Each one of our students got to make and keep a bracelet from the beads that were made by the women in Kenya. It truly was a wonderful morning! A big thank you to Mrs. Maynard for coming to spend some time with us today.
