Dear Fort Edward Family,

Thank You: I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy.  Please accept my sincerest thanks for all your collaboration, support and patience throughout the period of remote learning.  I appreciate how challenging this situation has been for all of our students, families and community.  Your assistance in maintaining the continuity of education has been absolutely outstanding.

As we progress toward what would normally be the end of the school year, I would like to provide you with some important information regarding how the school year will conclude.

Last Day of School: The last day of school for the continuity of learning program (remote learning) will be Tuesday, June 16th.  We ask that you watch for information from the teachers concerning final assignments and any remote instruction “end of the year” expectations.

Backpack Program: The last day for deliveries of the backpack program will be Monday, June 15th.

Breakfast and Lunch Program: Currently we are planning for Monday, June 15th to be the final Food Service Delivery Day.  Individuals receiving meals will receive 5 days of meals in this last delivery.  Additional information about possible extension of the meal program may be forthcoming in regard to this program dependent on guidance from the Governor’s office.

Locker / Desk Clean-Out and Return of District Supplies: Building Principals will be providing specific information to parents and students concerning the exact schedule for pick up and drop off of necessary materials, supplies and belongings.  Please remember to bring the chargers with you when your pick up/drop-off date is announced. The process will be coordinated to maintain appropriate social distancing to protect the health and safety of all involved and will likely be a drive up, or walk up, style interaction with no one actually entering the school building.  Again, for details, please see the guidance that will follow shortly from the Building Principals.

Awards Assemblies: Building Principals are currently working with the teachers and other school staff to organize virtual recognition in lieu of the normal end of the year ceremonies usually held here at school.

High School Graduation: The District has been working closely with the Washington County Department of Health as well as continuously reviewing orders from the Governor’s office.  Mr. Ratti, Mrs. Scotch and I have been in biweekly communications with the Class of 2020 to discuss possibilities and concerns related to graduation.  Tentative plans are being finalized for both a “Virtual Graduation” as well as an “In-person, Socially Distanced Graduation” ceremony.  Mr. Ratti will be communicating further in this regard as we obtain additional guidance and permissions from both the Governor as well as Washington County.

If you have questions or concerns about this information please contact the District at 518-747-4529.
