Extended Fort Edward Budget History

Dear Fort Edward Residents,

In response to requests for additional historical information concerning the Fort Edward School Budget the District has compiled two graphs showing budget trends for more than the last 10 years.  These graphs were compiled using the past newsletters that were sent out to the District's residents.

There have been some questions raised over the amount of the budget allocated to the Administrative Component of the budget as well as the Tax Levy.  In reviewing the historical data those components, when compared as percentages of the overall budget, are almost flat with many actually being lower than the budgets from the past 10 years.
The 2020-2021 proposed tax levy as compared to the total budget amount equals 30.74%.  This percentage is higher than the last three years, but is lower than each of the budget years occurring from to 2009 to 2016.
A similar story becomes apparent as the percentage allocated to Administration is compared to the total budget.  The 2020-2021 budget proposes 9.23% be allocated to Administration, this is actually a reduction from the percentage that was allocated last year.  Additionally, it is lower than the allocation for the budgets from 2017, 2016, 2105, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009.

There were a few requests to show multiple years of the school budget broken down by the three major components. Administration, Capital, and Program.  The data from the last 10 plus years is displayed for comparison purposes.
I hope that these graphs provide useful information as you prepare to vote on the 2020-2021 proposed budget.  Thank you for your commitment to the students of the Fort Edward School District.
