Dear Fort Edward Elementary Families,

As Mr. Ward announced, the last day of school this year will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Here are some announcements regarding dates and events specific to the Elementary School:

  • The last day for new instruction will be Monday, June 8, 2020. For the remainder of next week, June 9-12,
teachers will continue to guide students to finish up any assignments that still need to be done. All
assignments must be turned in by Friday, June 12, 2020.
  • Our yearly Awards Assembly for Grades 3-5 as well as our Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony will be
virtual this year, and will be posted to the Fort Edward webpage on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Teachers at
other grade levels are providing special treats and events for their students as well. Please reach out to your
child’s teacher regarding special end of year plans.
  • Elementary families will be able to return school items and pick up students’ belongings and awards
certificates on Friday, June 12, 2020, according to the schedule below. For families with more than one
student, please come at the assigned time for the oldest child. Please return all chromebooks or iPads with
charging cords, and any library books or textbooks. Student belongings have been bagged and labeled, and
    will be delivered to you.
Elementary Schedule
Grades PreK, K & 1 June 12th 9am - 11am
Grades 2 & 3 June 12th 11am-1pm
Grades 4 & 5 June 12th 1pm-3pm

  • Report cards will be printed on Monday, June 15, 2020, and mailed home on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
Students’ third trimester marks will be according to the following scale:
    • 4 = exceeds expectations, did much more than was expected during the school closure
    • 3 = meets expectations, did what was expected during the school closure
    • 2 = incomplete evidence, work completion was inconsistent during the school closure
    • 1 = no evidence, did not do the work during the school closure
This has been an unusual end to the school year to say the least, and while we haven’t been able to have our usual
fun events like Field Day, our teachers have tried hard to end the year on a positive note. I sincerely hope that all of
our students and families have a restful and restorative summer break, and I truly hope that we will see each other
again in September!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Jones
