Staff Professional Development Day

Staff Professional Development Day
Posted on 01/26/2018

On Friday, January 26th, our Fort Edward UFSD staff worked hard on sharpening their skills and expanding their knowledge on key areas of interest within the school community during a staff professional development day.

As students enjoyed the day off, our staff gathered to learn from each other and grow in their profession.

Guest speaker Jay Girvin of Girvin & Ferlazzo Law Firm in Albany, NY gave a brief seminar on Sexual Harassment within the workforce/school community and updated staff on legal policies.

Josh Gray from Council for Prevention trained staff on understanding youth suicide prevention and how members of the school community can be sure they are providing the highest level of support.

Melissa Major visited from the Capital EAP which offers confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees who have personal and/or work-related problems.

And finally, our Fort Edward UFSD Administrative team updated staff on Emergency Relocation drills and procedures.

We believe in and encourage the importance of our teachers having regular opportunities to stay up-to-date on issues like ones addressed today and look forward to continuing professional growth! 2
